Changes on Elgin Street

Posted

After a busy and unexpectedly special few weeks, Milly Sleeping on Elgin Street is now closed. Whole-hearted thanks to everybody who dropped in just as we hoped - to say goodbye and enjoy a last shop. Sorry to those who missed us ... A few garments and accessories are still available online, and will be housed in our back room for now. These will be available to try on during the trading hours of our next temporary venture ... A Millicent Select Secondhand pop-up.

Yes ... If you've become a Millicent devotee, you no longer have to make a beeline for the back area... For three to four weeks, an exciting selection of secondhand pieces will be on display in our main showroom. It will be open this weekend:

Sat Feb 17 ... 10 - 5

Sun Feb 18 ... 12 - 4

... And the plan is to trade Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday (maintaining Milly's hours) in subsequent weeks until March 11.

After this time, Millicent will make a transition to a new space - to be announced later this month!

What next for 157 Elgin Street? We are currently exploring the possibility of making our beautiful space available for short-term rentals, ie. maintaining it as a potential pop-up space. If you or somebody you know may be interested in setting up in our well-located and accommodating site, please feel free to be in touch or pass on our details:

leah@millysleeping.com / 03 9347 1333

The space will particularly suit small-scale clothing and accessory labels or other artists/makers - and we are specifically looking to book four-week periods (or thereabouts) in the months to come (from late March through to September/October) - but all expressions of interest are very welcome.

Post Sole Studio for Penny Sage

The first time I was in touch with Myra Spencer from Post Sole Studio about the arrival of the Penny Sage shoes, she gave me a provisional time and then warned that boxing up the shoes might take she and her PSS partner, Breeze Powell, longer than they estimate. From start to finish, shoe-making is a slow and demanding, hands-on process, [...]
